Welcome to the Catherine Valliant Hill Library & Research Center. The Hill Center is your go-to resource for scholarly research, personal projects, or simply exploring and learning more about Talbot County and Maryland.
The reading room is relaxed and welcoming, featuring a large table, comfortable chairs, and computers for your digital research. Remember, you can conduct your online research from any computer by accessing our digital collection here.
Our library offers over 2,000 books about the history of Talbot County’s first settlement from the 16th century to today. Our collection of over 61,000 digitized photos is considered one of the most extensive on the Eastern Shore. In addition to books and photos, the Hill Library also has newspapers, manuscripts, maps, and other valuable materials available online.
While we welcome all to utilize our research library, please make an appointment in advance so that we can ensure resources are available. You can book a time from Wednesday to Saturday between 10 AM and 3 PM by calling us at 410-822-0773 or by filling out the form below. You may make as many follow-up appointments as needed until your research is complete.
