Championship Calling in Easton
Competitors are immersed in the language of the incredible waterfowl of the region, competing against each other for the coveted title of World Champion. Callers from around the world come to Easton each year to showcase their skills and earn their place in the history of championship calling. Many of the industry's leaders in waterfowl calling and hunting got their start on the championship stage at the Waterfowl Festival.
Founded in 1976, the World Championship Goose Calling Championship® is the longest-running goose calling championship in the United States. Over the decades, the championships have helped shape the sport and the waterfowl calling industry, bringing generations of talented callers to Easton.
With audiences of more than 600, five championships, and competitors ranging from newcomers to seasoned champions, the stage is set each year for exciting competition. Judges representing flyways from across the country bring a broad range of experience to the championship stage.
The Sound of the Real Thing
Operating a duck or goose call takes tremendous skill, but at the World Waterfowl Calling Championships, technical ability alone isn't enough. Competitors are challenged to replicate the natural sounds of actual ducks and geese, keeping their calls true to the sounds heard in the field.
That focus on authenticity helps create a level playing field for competitors at every level. Whether novice or master, callers are invited to take the stage and compete based on what ultimately matters most: who sounds best in the field.
The Championships
World Championship Goose Calling Contest®
The flagship competition dating to 1976, challenging callers to recreate the progression of calling geese from a distance, bringing them closer, calling them back, and ultimately landing them in the decoys.
World Championship Live Goose Calling Contest®
A competition focused on authenticity, with callers recreating the natural vocabulary and sounds of Canada geese rather than following a traditional calling routine.
World Championship Live Duck Calling Contest®
Callers are challenged to sound like real ducks heard in the wild, with judging focused on realistic waterfowl sounds rather than elaborate calling techniques.
Team Championships
Team competitions bring callers together to recreate the natural sounds of waterfowl as a group, with both duck and goose championship divisions.
